Budgeting for Beginners

BACK

This section of the City’s Budget Information Center is intended to give citizens an interactive approach to the annual budgeting process.  First, there is a community survey that asks the user to allocate monies to various areas of the City budget. Second, there is a more comprehensive look at the City’s General Fund which requires considerably more deliberation by the user as revenue and expenditure items are filled out.  Both the community survey and the General Fund calculator also allow the user to post comments which are delivered directly to the City’s Finance Director.

Finally, both the residential and commercial calculators allow the user to enter their residential market value or commercial property market value (if applicable) in order determine where their 2010 property taxes go. And last, there is the option to view special assessments on any property within the City based on entering the last name or address of the property owner.

We hope these tools will be useful and provide each user with better insight into the City’s annual budgeting process.
